SEND Teaching Assistant

Teachmatch are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to support teachers in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for students. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in SEND settings, particularly those with ASD. This role is pivotal in guiding and mentoring students, ensuring they receive the support necessary for their academic and personal development.

Role: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Abergavenny
Salary: £90 per day

Responsibilities:

* Assist teachers in planning and delivering tailored, engaging lessons to meet the needs of individual students.
* Provide one-on-one support and tutoring for students who require additional help.
* Promote a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to share progress updates and address any concerns.
* Implement individualized strategies to support the learning and development of students with special educational needs.
* Help maintain a safe, organised, and conducive classroom environment.
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills in mentoring and supporting children.

Requirements:

* Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is essential, however, if you have experience in a support-based role within a residential setting, or have a family member that you have supported with a disability or an ENC, we would encourage you to apply.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
* Experience or training in special education or working with students on the autism spectrum is highly desirable.
* A passion for supporting young learners and fostering their academic and personal growth.
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also taking initiative when needed.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting diverse learning needs.
