Salary: £200 – £270 per day (Depending on Experience)

Teacher of Food Technology – Long-Term Supply Position

TeachMatch Recruitment is looking for a passionate, resilient, and adaptable Food Technology Teacher to join one of our partner schools in South Yorkshire. This long-term supply opportunity is based within a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) provision, starting in September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons that inspire students to develop valuable life skills and confidence.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual learning, behavioural, and emotional needs of students within an SEMH setting.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and meaningful learning.
  • Plan and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum while encouraging independence and resilience.
  • Monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and celebrating individual achievements.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and other professionals to support student development.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety within the food technology classroom.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and the needs of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or a genuine willingness to develop within this area.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach, with a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
