SEN Teaching Assistant

The Role – What You’ll Be Doing

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide crucial support to students who need it most, helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally. You’ll work closely in Liverpool with teaching staff and the school’s SENCO team to deliver tailored support strategies.

Supporting Children with SEN

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other developmental needs
  • Using communication tools and strategies to help children express themselves and engage in learning
  • Supporting the development of key life skills including communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction

Creating a Nurturing Environment

  • Helping to create a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom setting
  • Assisting with emotional and behavioural regulation using positive reinforcement techniques
  • Offering comfort, routine, and reassurance to pupils with complex needs

Classroom Collaboration

  • Assisting teachers in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning plans
  • Providing feedback on student progress and behaviour to help adapt learning approaches
  • Supporting general classroom management and daily routines

What We’re Looking For

We welcome individuals who are caring, reliable, and ready to learn-no school experience necessary! This role is ideal for:

  • 🎓 Psychology, Education, or Child Development graduates seeking practical SEN experience
  • ✅ Individuals with experience in schools, nurseries, youth work, or care (preferred but not essential)
  • 💬 Strong communicators who are patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
  • 🤝 Team players who are passionate about helping children feel seen, supported, and successful
  • 🔍 Someone with a valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
