Design And Technology Teacher

Role Overview:

As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and challenging lessons in both practical and theoretical aspects of Design and Technology. You will inspire students to think creatively, problem-solve, and develop their technical skills using a range of materials, tools, and technologies. You will also be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering lessons that meet curriculum standards and engage students of all abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Design and Technology to students across various year groups.
  • Develop and implement engaging schemes of work, including both practical and theory-based lessons.
  • Encourage creativity and innovation through project-based learning.
  • Assess and monitor student’s progress, providing feedback and support to help them improve.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and create a positive learning environment.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, clubs, and events related to Design and Technology.
  • Participate in department meetings, and professional development, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance student outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe and well-organised classroom and workshop environment.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Design and Technology, Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Passion for Design and Technology education and a commitment to inspiring students.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is desirable).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments and best practices in teaching.

Desirable:

  • Experience with CAD/CAM, 3D printing, or other advanced technology.
  • Ability to teach multiple aspects of Design and Technology, such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Textiles.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or within an educational setting.
