General Cover Teacher (Secondary)

Job Description:
As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering lessons and ensuring that students engage with the curriculum in the absence of their usual teacher. You will manage classroom behaviour, encourage active learning, and ensure that students stay on track with their studies.
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver lessons in line with the established curriculum for various subjects and year groups
• Provide clear instructions and support to students, ensuring they remain engaged and focused
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, respectful environment
• Provide feedback on student progress and report any concerns to the relevant staff
• Ensure that students follow safety and classroom protocols

Key Requirements:

• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) is essential
• Experience in a teaching or classroom-based role preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to a variety of classroom settings and subject areas
• Excellent classroom management skills
• DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
